MODX

MODX is an open-source content management system and web application framework written in PHP. It provides complete creative freedom by not imposing rigid template structures or markup patterns on developers and designers. MODX separates content from presentation using a flexible template system with custom tags called placeholders, chunks, snippets, and template variables. The CMS supports multi-site management from a single installation, allowing administrators to manage multiple websites with shared or isolated resources. MODX includes fine-grained user permissions, content versioning, and a RESTful API for headless CMS implementations. It is commonly used by web agencies and developers building custom websites that require flexibility beyond traditional CMS constraints. MODX has two main editions: MODX Revolution (the current version) and MODX Cloud (a hosted SaaS offering).
