Alexa Certified Site Metrics was a web analytics service provided by Alexa Internet (an Amazon subsidiary) that offered website traffic data and ranking information. The service required site owners to install a verification code on their websites to certify their traffic metrics with Alexa. Certified metrics provided more accurate traffic data compared to Alexa's standard estimates, which were based on toolbar data and other sources. Website owners could display certified metrics badges to demonstrate their site's traffic and credibility to advertisers and partners. The service tracked metrics such as page views, unique visitors, bounce rates, and traffic sources. Alexa Certified Metrics integrated with Alexa's broader site ranking and competitive analysis tools. Amazon retired the Alexa.com service in May 2022, so this technology is now deprecated and no longer in active use, though historical implementations may still be detected on some websites.
